The Romania police rescued 23 Bangladeshi immigrants by searching a truck in Romania while trying to cross the border. They were rescued on Thursday (March, 23). Tthe Romanian state media, Agar Press in the report of the local stiripesurse informed.
The media reported that when the truck reached the Western Turnu border crossing point in Romania, the police stopped the truck and interrogated the driver. During the interrogation, the driver said that he was carrying pallets (shelves) by car on the Romania-Italy route. However, when the police found his word suspicious, they searched the card. Meanwhile, 23 Bangladeshi immigrants were rescued from the car and taken to the local police station.
Quoting the police, the stiripesurse report said, "During the search, the policemen confirmed that the rescued persons were Bangladeshi citizens, aged between 25 and 50 years. All of them entered Romania legally with work permits.”
After being arrested, the driver was charged with immigration smuggling and attempting to cross the state border by tricking foreign nationals hidden in the truck, the report added.
The Romanian government is providing a special type of work visa for Bangladeshi workers. However, these workers are not allowed to travel from Romania to other European countries.
