Seven parliament members of BNP have submitted their resignation letters to the Speaker today.
Around 11am, five of them went to the parliament and handed in their resignation. The other two MP’s submitted their resignation letters through the BNP whip.
On Saturdays Dhaka rally, they announced about the resignations during a speech.
The seven BNP MPs who resigned are Md Zahidur Rahman from Thakurgaon-3, Md Mosharof Hosen from Bogra-4, Gulam Mohammad Siraj from Bogra-6, Md Harunur Rashid from Chapainawabganj-3, Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan from Brahmanbaria-2 and reserved seat MP Rumeen Farhana.
BNP held its 10th and last rally yesterday, where they announced their demands for launching a simultaneous movement.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said parliament would not stop functioning if the BNP lawmakers submitted their resignation.
