The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's appointed Khandaker Golam Faruq as the new commissioner.
From the position of Deputy Inspector General of Chattogram Range, he was promoted to the position of DMP chief.
The announcement was made by the public security division of the home ministry on Sunday through a gazette notification (23 October).
Golam Faruq, who is now the Rector of the Police Staff College, will take charge on October 29 when Shafiqul Islam, the former DMP Commission, retires.
