The government has transferred and assigned new responsibilities to 23 senior police officials, including deputy inspectors general (DIGs) and additional DIGs, in a major reshuffle.
The orders were issued in four separate notifications by the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.
The notifications were signed by Deputy Secretary Towsif Ahmed of the ministry. They said the officers, all members of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre, had been transferred and posted to the positions and workplaces mentioned against their names. The orders, issued in the public interest, will take immediate effect.
Among those transferred, Additional DIG Farida Yasmin of the Dhaka Highway Police has been attached to the office of the DIG of Barishal Range as an additional DIG. Additional DIG Mir Moddachher Hossain of the Highway Police has been posted as an additional DIG at the Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) in Sarda, Rajshahi.
Mohammad Shahinur Alam Khan, superintendent of police (supernumerary additional DIG) at the Highway Police, has been appointed superintendent of police (supernumerary additional DIG) at the Special Branch (SB) in Dhaka.
Highway Police SP Md Rezaul Karim has been transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) as an SP, while Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) SP Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman has been transferred to the Highway Police as an SP.
Meanwhile, APBn SP Dipak Jyoti Khisa has been posted to the Highway Police as an SP, while RAB Additional DIG Md Saleh Uddin has been posted to the Highway Police as an additional DIG.
In a separate notification, Kushtia SP Mohammad Jasim Uddin has been appointed SP of Gazipur. The current Gazipur SP, Md Sharif Uddin, has been transferred to the Highway Police.
Md Amirul Islam, SP at the office of the DIG of Sylhet Range, has been posted as Kushtia SP. Narayanganj SP Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munsi has been transferred to the Highway Police, while Khulna SP Mohammad Tajul Islam has been transferred to the APBn.
Meanwhile, Government Omar Faruk, SP at the Police Staff College in Dhaka, has been posted as SP of Khulna district.
In two other separate notifications, 10 more officers holding the ranks of DIG, deputy commissioner of police, SP and special SP have also been transferred and posted to various units of the police.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said the transfer and posting orders, issued in the public interest, would take immediate effect.
