Govt appoints new chairmen to 8 development authorities

 

The government has appointed new chairmen to eight development authorities across the country, according to separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration.

Under the notifications issued on Thursday (June 11), new chairmen have been appointed for a one-year term to the development authorities of Khulna, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Narayanganj and Cumilla.

According to the ministry, SM Shafiqul Alam has been appointed chairman of the Khulna Development Authority (KDA), while Engineer Belayet Hossain has been assigned as chairman of the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA). Md. Abul Kalam Azad has been appointed chairman of the Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA).

In separate notifications, Rezaul Hasan Lodi was appointed chairman of the Sylhet Development Authority, Md. Shamsuzzaman Samu as chairman of the Rangpur Development Authority, Motahar Hossain Talukdar as chairman of the Mymensingh Development Authority, Udbatul Bari Abu as chairman of the Cumilla Development Authority, and Mashukul Islam Rajib as chairman of the Narayanganj Development Authority.

The government has also set several conditions for the newly appointed chairmen. The notifications state that their contractual appointments are subject to relinquishing any other profession, business activities, or employment ties with government, semi-government, private institutions, or organizations. Other terms and conditions of their appointments will be determined in accordance with their respective contracts.

Meanwhile, in a separate notification, the government canceled the remaining tenure of the contractual appointment of Mohammad Salauddin, chairman of the Cox’s Bazar Development Authority (CoxDA).
