A group of unknown miscreants weilding knives have killed the assistant of a government office in in Mollahat upazila of Bagerhat.
The deceased is Nayeem Khan (28), an office assistant of upazila social service office under Department of Social Services, reports The Daily Star.
Soumen Das, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mollahat Police Station, said that the incident happened around 9pm on Thursday .
Nayeem was found critically injured and unconscious in front of a house in the village, he said, adding that miscreants had stabbed him indiscriminately and fled, the police official added.
Locals rushed Nayeem to a nearby clinic where his condition deteriorated. He was finally transferred to Khulna medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the OC also said.
Police are trying to identify the criminals who were behind the murder, the OC said adding that the body was kept at the hospital's mortuary.
