Three people were killed and at least 20 others injured in a clash over a land dispute in Bhundar Char area of Roumari upazila in Kurigram on Thursday noon, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Nurul Amin (40), son of Anwar Hossain; Bulu Mia (55), son of Golam Mia; and Fulbabu (50). All three were reportedly supporters of one of the parties involved in the dispute.

According to Officer-in-Charge of Roumari Police Station, Lutfor Rahman, the incident occurred around 12:00 PM when supporters of Shahjahan Mia attempted to irrigate a disputed piece of land.

This led to an altercation with supporters of rival claimant Raju Mia, resulting in a violent clash.

All three victims died on the spot during the clash. The injured were taken to Roumari Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Police have arrested one individual in connection with the incident, and additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent further violence. The situation is currently under control.

OC Lutfor Rahman added that police are working to identify all those involved. A murder case will be filed following discussions with the families of the deceased.
