Five members of a family died in a fire in Rangunia upazila of Chattogram early today.
In the early hours of Friday, a massive fire in Chattogram's Rangunia upazila claimed five lives of a family.
Confirming the matter Kamruzzaman Suman, in-charge of Rangunia Fire Station said that the fire broke out from the kitchen oven of the tin-shed house where five among the family of six died.
The tin-shed house consisting five rooms located at Mohajonpara of Uttar Parua ward of No. 3 under the Rangunia upazila.
Firefighters managed to rescue Khokan Boshak alive but the rest of his family members met a tragic end, said Kamruzzaman Suman, in-charge of Rangunia Fire Station.
Injured Khokan Boshak was rescued by firefighters and admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital but the rest of his family died in fire, according to Kamruzzaman Suman.
The deceased are identified as Khokan's father Kangal Boshak, 68, mother Lolita Boshak, 57, wife Lucky Boshak, 33, son Sourav Boshak, 12, and six-year-old daughter Shayanti Boshak.
According to the fire service official, they learned of the fire about 2:10am and, with the aid of five firefighting units, were able to put it out at 4:00am.
