The new president will take oath at 7:30pm on Friday (August 21), with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to take place at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban, the Parliament Secretariat said.
Chief Whip of the ruling party Nurul Islam Moni confirmed the matter to the media.
According to sources at the Parliament Secretariat, the ceremonial event will be attended by the acting president, the head of government, cabinet members, politicians, members of parliament, Supreme Court judges, senior civil and military officials, diplomats and invited guests.
Former president Mohammed Shahabuddin resigned from office on July 24, citing “serious physical and mental” illness.
