Saint Martin’s vessels from Teknaf start boarding

Tourist boarding passenger ships started operating between Teknaf and Saint Martin’s Island on Friday morning after being closed since April 2, last year.

Tofail Ahmad, president of the Sea Cruise Operator Owners Association of Bangladesh, stated that with the administration’s approval, tourist ships have finally begun transporting tourists from Teknaf to Saint Martin's Island after a long closure.

At around 9:30 on Friday morning, he added, two ships, the MV Parijat and MV Rajhansa, left for Saint Martin's with 610 people.

Other ships will start sailing next Saturday, he added.

St. Martin’s Island is one of the most important tourist attractions in this country where tens of thousands of travelers visit every year. Bangladesh government restricts running ships in the Teknaf –  St. Martin’s every year considering environment and natural calamity issues.
