There was already a dispute over land between brothers. Nazrul Islam (40) was stabbed to death by his two brothers while entering the mosque during Fajr prayers on Friday. The incident took place in Charpubail village of Sadar Union in Ishwarganj, Mymensingh.
The murdered Nazrul Islam is the son of late Bashir Uddin, a brave freedom fighter of that area. This information is known from local media news.
Ishwarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pirzada Mostasinur Rahman said that Nazrul Islam and his two brothers, Abdul Haleem Liton and Shafiqul Alam Selim had been in dispute over land for a long time. Sometimes they used to argue about this.
On Thursday night, the three brothers again discussed these issues. In the morning, Nazrul Islam went to the local mosque to offer Fajr prayers. As soon as Nazrul finished praying, Abdul Haleem Liton and Shafiqul Alam Salim stabbed him from behind and seriously injured him. Late people rescued him and took him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. But the doctor there declared him dead.
The OC also said that after receiving the information, the body was recovered and sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. The two brothers have fled since the incident. Preparations are underway to file a case at the police station.
