BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today said that Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani is a source of inspiration for securing the rightful demands of the helpless.

He said, "Maulana Bhashani will always be our source of inspiration in achieving the rightful demands of the helpless, and in protecting democracy, human rights and the country‍‍`s independence and sovereignty. His profound patriotism, his defense of national interests, and his defiance against the enemies of democracy and humanity will inspire us for ages."

Tarique Rahman made the remarks in a post in his verified Facebook page marking the 49th death anniversary of the leader of the oppressed Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani. He offered deep respect to the memory of Maulana Bhashani and prayed for the salvation of his departed soul.

Tarique Rahman remarked that Maulana Bhashani is an unforgettable and important name in the national history.

"As a legendary figure in the struggle against imperialism, colonialism and expansionism, Maulana Bhashani provided uncompromising and brave leadership for the exploited and oppressed people of the subcontinent, starting from the anti-British movement. He will forever be remembered as a pioneer who guided the nation toward liberation," said Tarique Rahman.

He added that Maulana Bhashani was a bright star in Bangladesh‍‍`s independence movement, democratic struggle and the fight for the just rights of farmers, laborers and working people.

The BNP Acting Chairman said, "His position was always against exploitation and in favor of the exploited. His roar shook the foundations of tyrannical rulers and exploiting classes. He earned the trust and faith of the people because he consistently stood for public interest during the nation‍‍`s darkest times."
