BNP Secretary General and Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday paid tribute to former Speaker Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, saying the nation would remember his contributions to politics and the state with deep respect.

In a condolence message issued after the veteran politician‍‍`s death, Fakhrul expressed profound sorrow and described Jamiruddin Sircar as one of the country‍‍`s most experienced political figures.

He said Bangladesh had lost a seasoned statesman whose long political career left a lasting mark on the country‍‍`s democratic journey.

Fakhrul said Jamiruddin Sircar had worked throughout his life to uphold democratic values and protect people‍‍`s rights, adding that his role from the 1952 Language Movement to his decades in national politics would remain part of the country‍‍`s history.

He also praised the late leader‍‍`s contribution to parliamentary politics, saying his experience and leadership helped shape Bangladesh‍‍`s parliamentary democracy.

Fakhrul noted that Jamiruddin Sircar had worked alongside prominent political leaders, including Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Describing him as "a living chapter of contemporary politics," Fakhrul said his passing had created a significant void in the country‍‍`s political landscape.

He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.

Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, a BNP Standing Committee member and former acting President, died at a hospital in Dhaka early Sunday. He was 95.
