Users of several of the world’s most popular social media platforms experienced widespread disruptions on Friday, with services operated by Meta appearing to be affected across multiple regions, reports CNET.
The outage impacted Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger, as users reported difficulties accessing the platforms and using key features.
Outage monitoring website Downdetector logged more than 100,000 reports of issues with Facebook at around 10 a.m. ET on Friday, indicating a significant service disruption. CNET and Downdetector are both owned by parent company Ziff Davis.
CNET said it has contacted Meta for comment.
