Once Pakistan did not want to give Bengali the status of state language. But this time in a significant turn of events, Bangladeshi movie `Mona: Jinn-2`, is now making waves in Pakistan.
Released during the last Eid-ul-Fitr, the film has secured screenings in 24 theaters across Pakistan, including major cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. According to reports, Pakistani viewers thoroughly enjoyed the movie during its Saturday screenings.
Jazz Multimedia, the production company behind the film, has confirmed this development. Producer Abdul Aziz expressed his gratitude towards his partner, MR Nine, based in the United States, who facilitated the film`s screening in Pakistan. Aziz mentioned, "The film is being exhibited there with English subtitles since Friday."
Speaking on the journey of the film to Pakistan, Aziz revealed, "Before the last Eid, I submitted the film for censorship. Feedback from individuals involved in the process indicated a positive reception from the Pakistan Censor Board. This encourages us, indicating the potential for the film to resonate with Pakistani audiences."
Highlighting the broader aspirations for Bangladeshi cinema, Aziz emphasized, "Our film is not just limited to Pakistan; we are eyeing releases in Europe, USA, and the Middle East. It`s crucial for Bengali cinema to tap into the global market to thrive."
Directed by Kamruzzaman Roman, `Mona: Jinn-2` features Suprabhat in the titular role, supported by a talented ensemble including Tariq Anam Khan, Ahmed Rubel, and Deepa Khandkar, among others.
