Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque has announced that the Bangladesh national cricket team will be awarded a bonus of Tk 20 million in recognition of their ODI series victory over Australia.
He shared the information with journalists on Saturday.
Earlier, on Thursday (June 11), Bangladesh achieved a remarkable series win by defeating Australia by five wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method in the second ODI.
Due to rain, the innings was reduced by nine overs. Bangladesh successfully chased a target of 192 with 36 balls to spare. Towhid Hridoy scored 40 off 55 balls, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 22.
Bangladesh controlled the chase from the beginning. Although there was some pressure after the dismissal of Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, the partnership between Miraz and Hridoy guided the team to victory.
After winning the first ODI by 86 runs, Bangladesh sealed the series 2–0 with one match remaining, marking their first-ever ODI series win against Australia.
Notably, Bangladesh overcame Australia—traditionally known for their pace-friendly conditions—through strong pace-bowling performances rather than relying on spin-friendly conditions in Mirpur. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman played key roles in the first two matches.
The third and final ODI will be held on June 14 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Bangladesh will aim for a clean sweep in the series.
Bangladesh squad for the third ODI:
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (captain), Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, Mosaddek Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana.
