Bangladesh cricket star Tamim Iqbal was rushed to a hospital after suddenly falling ill during a Dhaka Premier League match at the BKSP ground in Savar.

The opening batsman, who was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in a match against Shinepukur Cricket Club, complained of chest pain while on the field, prompting immediate medical attention.

Initially, Tamim received treatment on-site at BKSP, but when his condition did not improve, he was transported to Fazilatunnessa Hospital, located near the stadium, as confirmed by the medical department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

A source from the BCB‍‍`s medical team shared that although there were initial plans to airlift Tamim to Dhaka‍‍`s Evercare Hospital, it was deemed unnecessary due to his stable but non-improving condition.

Mohammedan’s team manager, Tarikul Islam, revealed that Tamim’s health update had caused concern within the team and prompted further medical checks at the hospital.

"We initially thought of transferring him to Evercare Hospital, but doctors decided to keep him at Fazilatunnessa for further observation," Islam stated.

The incident occurred during Mohammedan’s match at BKSP Ground No. 3, where Tamim had already participated in the toss as team captain.

However, midway through the game, the 34-year-old began experiencing discomfort in his chest and had to step aside to seek immediate medical attention.

Tamim’s sudden illness has caused a ripple effect across the cricketing community, with the BCB postponing a scheduled board meeting.

The meeting, set to take place at noon, was called off as senior BCB officials and directors made their way to the hospital to check on the cricketer‍‍`s condition.

As of now, Tamim remains under observation, with more updates on his health expected soon.
