On the 4th day of the first test, Bangladesh declared their second innings after securing 223 runs for 8 wickets. Skipper Mominul Haque picked up a century through his patient and calm play throughout the day. Having been overwhelmed easily in the first innings, Liton Das has put on a much more satisfying performance as he picked up 69 runs from 110 balls.
Meanwhile Mehidy Hasan Miraz is having a blast on the first test. After adding his first test century in the first innings, Miraz has been unplayable for the Carribeans. Taking out John Campbell and Kraigg Brathwaite in two consecutive overs, Miraz ensured that West Indies felt the pressure. With only 259 runs in the first innings, the visitors are in deep water and it’s very much expected that the Tigers will be avble to keep them in check even on the fifth day.
With Shakib’s injury yesterday, someone needed to step up and Captain Mominul has taken the responsibility. Taijul on the other hand, is giving the carribeans all sorts of troubles with his balling abilities. Nkrumah Bonner and Kyle Mayers will resume batting tomorrow morning but if West Indies’ lower order play anything like they did in the first innings, Tigers will cruise on towards a much-desired ending to the first test.
