State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque on Sunday inaugurated a safe drinking water initiative for Urdu-speaking residents living in camps in Dhaka`s Pallabi area, promising to expand access to clean water across all camps in his constituency.
The programme began with the installation of two deep tube wells at Rabeda Camp and Muslim Camp, where separate inauguration ceremonies were held.
Addressing the events, Aminul said his goal is to ensure a reliable supply of safe drinking water in every Urdu-speaking camp in Dhaka-16, which covers Pallabi and Rupnagar.
He also announced that year-round free medical services and the distribution of essential medicines would continue for camp residents.
The state minister said improving the quality of life in the camps requires a comprehensive approach that includes access to healthcare, safe drinking water, a clean environment and greater public awareness, alongside infrastructure development.
Aminul said he has repeatedly raised the challenges faced by the Urdu-speaking community in his constituency at various seminars and has continued to advocate for their rights.
Residents welcomed the installation of the new deep tube wells, saying they had long struggled to obtain safe drinking water.
They expressed hope that the initiative would ease their daily difficulties by providing a dependable source of clean water.
