The death tolls climbed at 21 following a passenger trawler capsize after it collided with a sand laden vessel in Brahmanbaria.
Out of the recovered corpses 18 were handed over to families on Friday night.
Deputy Commissioner of Brahmanbaria district Hayat-ud-Dowla Khan handed over the bodies to their relatives. District police super Md. Anisur Rahman and other government officials were present at that time.
Talking to the media DC Hayat-ud-Dowla said, as the identity of the deceased were identified we handed over 18 bodies. Family of each deceased was given taka 20 thousand.
Earlier on Friday, the incident took place at Loiska lake in Bijoynagar upazila of the district around 5:15 pm.
The sunk trawler left Champaknagar ghat of Bijoynagar upazila with more than one hundred passengers for Anandabazar ghat of Sadar upazila and collided with another sand laden trawler coming from opposite director. The collision turned the passenger trawler turtle, told Officer in Charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila, Mohammed Emranul Islam to The Report Confirming the vicinity of the matter.
