Over 85 motorcycles have been seized from various locations for violating a police ban imposed on the movement of vehicles ahead of tomorrow`s Barishal City Corporation elections.
Md Saiful Islam, commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police Station said that the vehicles were seized during combined operations conducted by different law enforcement agencies.
On June 10, the police issued a restriction on motorcycle movement from midnight of June 10 until midnight of June 13.
Moreover, police have set up checkposts at five locations in the city and conducted searches as a security measure ahead of tomorrow`s polls.
During a visit to the city, this correspondent found that both the police and BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) are continuing their patrols in various areas.
However, there is a thin presence of people on the roads, and a few people, who are not voters, are seen gathered at certain bus counters to leave the city.
Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) on Saturday asked outsiders to leave the Barishal City Corporation area by Saturday midnight (June 10).
