BNP holds demo protesting price hike

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a rally in the capital protesting the price hike of daily essentials.

The demonstration was organised at around 12pm in front of the national press club Sunday (October 24).

The party standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossasin and leaders of the party’s Dhaka south and north unit led the rally.

Khandaker Mosharraf said, “Awami syndicate increased the price of daily commodities. Many people are suffering from acute financial crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic. They are running out of food. We won’t join and allow any election under this government.”

The former minister accused the ruling party of plotting communal attacks on minorities in a bid to conceal the government’s misruling and failure regarding the price hike and forthcoming national election.

He said, “This government is not a government of the people. Unless the government cannot oust rights of people will never be established. To assume the goal, there is no alternative to concerted movement.”
