A BNP stage of rally has been collapsed in Chattogram leaving many leaders and activists injured.
The incident occurred around 11:15 am Wednesday at CDA residential playground area in Karnaphuli of the city.
The injured people were taken to safety.
The city south unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) organized the rally to press home the demand of releasing party chairperson Khaleda Zia and sending her abroad for advanced treatment.
The stage collapsed when the party standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was addressing as chief guest of the rally. However, Khasru did not stop delivering speech.
“The movement to oust the government has gain its momentum in Chattogram. People cannot be obstructed at any cost. The stage must collapse as people rushed the rally. The movement won’t stop, it must go on,” Amir Khasru said.
“The day of section is over. The day of seeking permission for rally is over. Today the countrymen are united,” added he.
