Diplomats serving in different consulates, missions and embassies of a country cannot speak on anything while on job in another country, said Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel.
“It is unfortunate for us that diplomats are making remarks whimsically, which is not possible in any other country,” he said addressing an event at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Tuesday.
“This is happening since some of us pamper them. We think that their making such comments is something remarkable," the junior minister added.
Making scopes, he said, about talking on others and intervening into others’ affairs is an imperialistic approach.
“According to the UN, every country is sovereign and no country has the right of intervening into other’s issues. The media of the country (being talked of) will not publish whatever they say,” he maintained.
Nowfel went on to say that Bangladesh is a guest-friendly country and foreigners are well entertained here.
“So, they have grown the habit of talking much now,” he observed, alleging that a vested quarter is trying to damage the harmony in the country.
