Each Bangladeshi Haji to pay nearly Tk7 lakh this year to perform hajj

Pilgrims from Bangladesh would need to pay a minimum of Tk 6.83 lakh (about 2.21 lakh more than last year) to perform the hajj, one of the mandatory worships of Muslim community, under government management this year.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haque Khan announced this following a meeting of the executive committee on hajj administration at the secretariat.

The minimum cost for pilgrims under private hajj administration will be 6.57 lakh Bangladeshi Taka, about 2 lakh more than in 2022.

Each pilgrim will have to spend extra money for the Qurbani ritual, the state minister added.

The Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (Haab), a platform of private hajj tour operators, will formally announce its hajj package rate at a press conference in a city hotel on Thursday, Haab said in a press release.

According to an agreement with Saudi Arabia, this year, a total of 1.27lakh Bangladeshis will perform hajj. Earlier in 2022, a total of 57,585 Bangladeshis had performed hajj. In 2019, around 1.27 lakh Bangladeshis were allowed to perform hajj.

As per the agreement with Saudi Arabia, 1.27 lakh Bangladeshis will go to the holy land for Muslim community this year. A total of 57,585 Bangladeshis did the hajj earlier in 2022. Approximately 1.27 lakh Bangladeshis were permitted to conduct the hajj in 2019.

Depending on the moon's sighting for Zilhaj month of Hijri calendar, this year's hajj is probably going to be observed on June 27.
