A fire broke out in the power car of Sylhet-bound train Parabat Express from Dhaka on Saturday afternoon, snapping rail communications on the Dhaka-Sylhet route.
However, the blaze was later brought under control.
The fire originated around 1pm in the area between Bhanugachh-Shamsernagar station in Kamalganj upazila, Shamsernagar stationmaster Jamal Uddin said.
On information, fire fighters and railway staff rushed to the spot and started operations to douse the fire, the stationmaster said.
Two firefighting units from Kamalganj fire service started for the spot also, Bhanubachh Stationmaster Kabir Hossain said, adding that the reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
