Five officials including the Principal Engineer have been suspended over the damage after two aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines collided at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The suspended officials are—principal engineer Mohammed Badrul Islam, engineer Md. Mainul Islam, Sayed Bahaul Islam, Selim Hossain Khan and GSE operator Md. Hafizur Rahman.
Biman spokesperson and director general of public relations department Tahera Khandaker confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday night.
A temporary departmental step has been taken against the officials. Legal steps will be taken based on inquiry, she said.
On April 10, a Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 777-300 ER were damaged and sent to the engineering and maintenance unit.
Following the incident, the civil aviation ministry and Biman formed separate committees to investigate the issue.
