Five people were killed and another was critically injured in a collision between a pickup van and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw on Chattogram-Rangamati road in Rubber Bagan area under Kawkhali upazila of the district at about 10.30am today.
All the victims were passengers of the auto-rickshaw. Their identities could not be known immediately.
Officer-in-charge of Kawkhali thana Saiful Islam Shohag confirmed the matter.
He said police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the accident. "Further details will be available once the investigation progresses," the OC added.
