The Pentagon has signed agreements with several major technology companies to bring artificial intelligence into its classified systems, aiming to strengthen military operations.

The deals involve companies including Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Nvidia, OpenAI, Reflection and SpaceX.

Officials said the tools will help improve decision-making, logistics and battlefield analysis, allowing faster and more efficient operations.

However, AI company Anthropic is not part of the agreements after a dispute with the US government over ethical concerns.

The Pentagon said it is expanding the use of AI to support tasks such as target identification, maintenance planning and supply management.

At the same time, experts have raised concerns about risks linked to AI use in warfare, including privacy issues and the possibility of machines being used to select targets.

Officials said safeguards are included in the agreements to ensure human control in key decisions and protect legal and civil rights.

The move comes as countries increase investment in military AI to gain a strategic advantage, especially amid growing competition in the technology sector.

Experts say the challenge will be to use AI effectively while avoiding over-reliance on automated systems.
