The 2025–26 season of the Dhaka Premier League is set to start on Monday, with new rules introduced to improve discipline, player welfare and match integrity.

Bangladesh Cricket Board officials said the changes were finalised with the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis ahead of the tournament, which will run until June 11.

Speaking at a press briefing in Mirpur, BCB ad-hoc committee chief Tamim Iqbal announced a ban on mobile phone use inside dressing rooms. Players and officials will have to hand in their phones before entering.

He said the step is part of efforts to follow international anti-corruption standards and ensure fair play.

The board will also arrange meals for all teams this season, replacing the earlier system where clubs managed their own food. Officials said this will help ensure better nutrition for players.

Medical support has also been strengthened, with ambulances, including ICU-equipped units, to be available at venues.

The league will follow a revised format this year, with no Super League or separate relegation stage. A total of 66 matches will be played.

However, relegation rules will still apply based on standings, with the bottom two teams moving down to the First Division.

Top clubs are taking part in the competition, which remains one of the country’s most important domestic cricket tournaments.

Matches will be held at several venues in and around Dhaka, with national team players expected to join as the tournament progresses.
