Formal charges filed in Abu Sayed murder case

Formal charges have been submitted to Tribunal-2 in the murder case of Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University who was killed during an anti-discrimination student movement.

On Monday, the prosecution formally submitted the charges to the tribunal. The case has drawn nationwide attention due to its association with protests against systemic discrimination in educational institutions.

So far, four individuals have been arrested and remain in custody in connection with the case. The accused include Sub-Inspector Amir Hossain, Constable Sujon Chandra Roy, the university‍‍`s then-proctor Shariful Islam, and Emran Chowdhury Akash, who was the general secretary of the university’s student wing of the ruling party at the time.

The tribunal is expected to schedule a hearing soon to review the charges and determine the next steps in the judicial process. The case continues to be closely followed by students, rights groups, and the wider public.
