Home Adviser visits 8-Year-Old rape survivor at CMH

Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited the eight-year-old rape victim from Magura, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

During the visit this morning, the adviser inquired about the child‍‍`s health and instructed the hospital authorities to provide the best possible care. Senior CMH officials were present during the visit to ensure the child’s medical needs are fully addressed.

The child, who was initially admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, was transferred to CMH yesterday to receive more advanced medical treatment. Following her transfer, her condition remains critical but under constant monitoring by the hospital‍‍`s medical team.

Earlier, on March 6, after learning about the brutal incident, the Home Adviser spoke to the victim’s mother over the phone, assuring her that the government will stand by the family and ensure all necessary medical support for the young girl’s recovery.

Addressing the ongoing investigation into the case, the adviser confirmed that law enforcement agencies have already made significant progress. 

"Four accused individuals have been arrested after a case was filed with Magura Sadar Police Station," he stated.

The Home Ministry, he emphasized, is closely following the investigation to ensure justice is served and that those responsible for this heinous crime are not able to evade punishment. He also reiterated the government‍‍`s strong stance against all forms of sexual violence, instructing law enforcement to expedite investigations in such cases.

"The government is committed to ensuring that women can move freely and safely in society. Anyone obstructing their rights or committing violence will be held accountable," the adviser said during his visit.

Furthermore, he urged law enforcement officials to maintain a strict approach in dealing with crimes of this nature and assured the public that the culprits involved in this case, as well as other recent rape cases, would face severe legal consequences.

The adviser called on society to remain vigilant in the fight against sexual violence and stressed the importance of reinforcing family, social, and moral values to prevent such incidents in the future.
