The Advisory Council of the Interim Government is set to welcome a new member tomorrow, with the oath-taking ceremony scheduled for Wednesday.

Government sources have confirmed that arrangements have been made for a vehicle, signaling the event’s upcoming proceedings.

A well-placed government source has revealed that the new appointee will be assuming the role of Education Advisor, though the identity of the person has not yet been disclosed.

There is speculation, however, that Dr. Aminul Islam, currently serving as the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor with the rank of a State Minister, could be the one to fill this position.

Dr. Islam, who is also overseeing the Ministry of Education, has emerged as a potential candidate.

This follows a series of appointments made earlier. On November 10, three individuals took their oaths as new members of the Interim Government‍‍`s Advisory Council.

The new appointees included Mahfuz Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, filmmaker Mostafa Sarwar Faruki, and businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin.

The oath ceremony took place at Bangabhaban, at 7:30 p.m., with President Mohammad Shahabuddin administering the oath.

With the anticipated addition of tomorrow’s appointee, the Interim Government Advisory Council will reach a total of 24 members, although one has already resigned.

In another significant move, on August 16, four new advisors joined the Interim Government under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

These individuals were Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan (former secretary), Ali Imam Mujumdar (former Cabinet Secretary), economist Wahiduddin Mahmud, and former Director General of Bangladesh Rifles Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam.

August 8 marked the oath-taking of Dr. Muhammad Yunus as Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, alongside 16 other members, including Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Dr. Asif Nazrul, Adilur Rahman Khan, Hasan Arif, Touhid Hossain, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Sharmin Murshid, Faruk-e-Azam, Brigadier General (Retd.) M. Sakhawat Hossain, Supradip Chakma, Bidhan Ranjan Roy, A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, Farida Akhtar, Nurjahan Begum, Md. Nahid Islam (former), and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan.

However, Supradip Chakma, Bidhan Ranjan Roy, and Faruk-e-Azam could not take the oath that day due to their presence outside Dhaka.

The formation of this Interim Government, led by Dr. Yunus, followed the fall of the Hasina government on August 5, which resulted from a student-led uprising.
