It is not possible to reduce Hajj package cost even if quota remains empty: Religious Affairs Ministry

Minister for Religious Affairs, Faridul Haque Khan said, even if the Hajj quota is not fulfilled, it will remain empty. Online Hajj registration will not be extended to fulfill the quota. And it is not possible to reduce the cost of Hajj package.

He told these things to reporters at the secretariat today.

The Holy Hajj will be held on June 27 (9th Zilhaj) this year subject to moon sighting. According to the Hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia, 127 thousand and 198 people from Bangladesh will be able to perform Hajj this time.

Among them, 15 thousand people will get the opportunity to perform Hajj under the government management and the remaining 112 thousand and 198 people under the private management. This year's Hajj flights will start from May 21. And the registration process ended yesterday.

On the special request of Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) and pilgrims, the online registration system was opened for one day yesterday. 786 people registered there. The Hajj registration number of 6 thousand and 719 people is still empty.

The first Hajj registration started on February 8. The quota was not met despite extending the registration period for eight times.

Biometrics for Hajj visas has started from April 16 for those who have completed their final registration. Hajj pilgrims will apply for biometric visas, submit their passports and receive receipts at the government management.
