Kalabagan Rape: Probe report by April 7

A Dhaka court today again asked police to submit the investigation report of a case filed against Fardin Iftekhar Dihan by April 7. Fardin is the prime accused in the rape and murder of an English medium school student in the city’s Kalabagan area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yeasmin Ara passed the order after Investigation Officer AFM Asaduzzaman, inspector of Kalabagan Police Station, submitted a petition, seeking a 30-day time for completing the probe.

In the petition, the IO said that he was yet to get the reports of Dihan's DNA and drug tests and also the report of DNA test of the victim's blood-stained clothes. So, he appealed to the court to give them 30 days more to complete the probe, the IO added.

With this, police have taken four dates for completing the investigation.

The victim's father on January 7 filed the case with Kalabagan Police Station against Dihan (18) under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act after his 17-year-old daughter, an O-level student, was raped and murdered in Kalabagan area.

On January 8, Dihan, who recently passed A-levels and now in jail, gave his confessional statement before a Dhaka court.
