Khondoker Rashed Maqsood has been appointed as the chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for the next four years.
The Ministry of Finance issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.
It comes a day after economist and public policy expert M Masrur Reaz is not taking charge as the BSEC chairman.
Masrur Reaz in a statement to the media on Saturday said that he wants continue working as an economist.
The interim government on August 13 appointed him to the post. The post had been vacant since former BSEC chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-ul Islam resigned five days after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on August 6.
Rashed Maqsood completed his MBA in Finance from IBA of University of Dhaka and started his career with American Express Bank as a management trainee in 1992.
Prior to joining Standard Band Ltd, he was the managing director of NRBC Bank Limited and also worked as the managing director and country officer of Citibank NA Bangladesh.
