The Labour Reform Commission has recommended introducing a worker-friendly pension scheme under the National Pension Scheme through government contributions to ensure the retirement and future security of workers. On Monday, the commission submitted its final report to Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna.
The report emphasizes ensuring a minimum pension benefit for workers living below the poverty line, along with providing government assistance. It also recommends making provident funds mandatory for private institutions while keeping worker contributions optional, and introducing a digital platform for pension management.
To simplify pension claims and management, the commission has proposed a digitalization process for updating worker information, depositing contributions, and resolving complaints. The report further suggests establishing a tripartite monitoring system and forming a separate monitoring unit to prevent irregularities.
Additionally, the commission has proposed formulating institutional policies for workers` recreational activities after retirement and setting up sports and cultural centers in industrial areas with government support.
The Labour Reform Commission, formed on November 17, submitted its recommendations after consultations with various stakeholders and organizations.
