Naogaon headmaster sent to jail over false info centring Hijab

A court has sent Dharani Kanta Barman, headmaster of Daul Barbakpur High School in Naogaon's Mahadebpur, to jail after he was taken into custody in a case filed over spreading false information over wearing Hijab.

Judge Tajul Islam of Naogaon Senior Judicial Amli Court-3 on Sunday passed the order after the accused headteacher surrendered before it in connection with the case filled by assistant headteacher Amodini Paul.

She filed the case with Mahadevpur Police Station on Friday afternoon naming five persons and 20-25 unnamed individuals for spreading false information about hijab, hurting religious sentiments, socially degrading her and made her victim of an illegal attack.

Earlier on Thursday, police detained two BNP leaders--QM Saeed and Jubadal leader Kazi Samsuzzaman Milon in connection with the incident and later they were shown arrested in the case.

On April 6, an allegation surfaced that assistant headteacher Amodini allegedly assaulted students for wearing hijab which later went viral on social media.

However, the probe body did not find the allegation against Amodini to be true.

According to the investigation report, Amodini and another teacher Badiul Alam rather beat some students for not wearing school uniforms.

The probe report also suggested departmental action against Amodini and Badiul for beating them as beating students is an offence.
