The government has ruled out any fuel shortage, saying recent concerns are being driven by attempts to create an artificial crisis.

Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan said a section of unscrupulous traders is trying to manipulate prices of petrol, octane, diesel and edible oil to make extra profit.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters during an Eid greeting exchange programme in Sakhipur upazila.

The minister warned that the government would take strict action against any effort to create artificial scarcity or disrupt the market.

He also assured that there is no need for concern regarding fuel availability, particularly for transport operators and the general public.

Officials from the local administration, political leaders and freedom fighters were present at the event.
