The interim government has stated that there has been no significant increase in serious crimes in the country over the past 10 months, countering recent media claims suggesting a spike in criminal activity.

This information was shared on Monday (July 14) through a verified Facebook post from the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government. The post included official crime statistics covering the period from January 2020 to June 2025.

"Some recent media reports have claimed a sudden rise in the crime rate this year, leading to growing public fear and a sense of insecurity," the post said. "However, an analysis of official data from September 2024 to June 2025 shows that this claim is not statistically accurate."

The statement noted that major crimes have remained largely stable during this period. In fact, the rate of several serious offenses has either decreased or remained unchanged. Only a few categories of crime have shown a slight increase.

"While it is important for citizens to remain cautious, the data indicates that law enforcement agencies have largely managed to maintain control over the overall security situation," the post added.

The government’s clarification aims to reassure the public and emphasize that isolated incidents should not be interpreted as a nationwide surge in crime.
