Rapid Action Battalion has stepped up monitoring and security measures across the country ahead of Eid-ul-Adha to ensure safe transportation and trading of sacrificial animals.
RAB Director General Md Ahsan Habib Palash made the remarks on Sunday while visiting the Gabtoli cattle market in Dhaka.
He said the elite force is closely monitoring vehicles carrying cattle to prevent any group from forcibly diverting animals to specific markets.
According to the RAB chief, additional security checkpoints have been set up in Dhaka and other parts of the country to maintain law and order during the Eid period.
He said control rooms and watchtowers have also been installed at cattle markets, while patrol operations have been increased in important and vulnerable areas.
Palash said law enforcement agencies are working together to prevent robbery, extortion and other crimes targeting cattle traders and buyers.
He also encouraged traders and customers to avoid carrying cash and instead use digital payment methods to reduce security risks.
The RAB chief said special arrangements have been made to detect counterfeit currency, while drives against fake money producers are continuing.
He warned that immediate action would be taken against anyone spreading rumours or false information on social media related to Eid or cattle trading.
