Home Affairs Advisor, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, acknowledged that occasional attacks on police stations and jails are inevitable.
However, he stressed that the most important factor is whether the government is taking the necessary steps to address these incidents.
"The government is taking action in every case," he said.
These comments came on Wednesday morning after his visit to the headquarters of the Naval Police in Gulshan. Speaking to reporters, the advisor referred to several incidents that had occurred recently, including an attack on the Uttara West Police Station on Tuesday night, where multiple police officers were injured.
There was also an attack on Kashimpur Jail.
Earlier in January, there was an attack on Banani Police Station, and on January 24, there was an attempted snatching of a detainee from the New Market Police Station.
Despite these attacks, the Home Affairs Advisor downplayed the incidents, calling them normal occurrences.
Addressing ongoing efforts to capture those involved in the July coup murder case, the advisor mentioned,
"We have arrested many individuals against whom arrest warrants were issued by the International Crimes Tribunal. We are also working to apprehend those who have fled abroad."
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam added,
"The government has requested a red notice through Interpol to arrest the absconding suspects. Once a red notice is issued, the police of the respective country will arrest them."
These remarks come at a time when tensions are rising over the safety and security of law enforcement personnel, with the government taking active steps to address the challenges posed by such attacks.
