Travelers in Bangladesh are facing major disruptions as train services have come to a halt due to a strike by railway workers.
To help passengers still holding train tickets, the authorities have arranged for them to travel by BRTA buses to their destinations.
These buses are leaving from outside Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka, and passengers can board them just by showing their train tickets.
On the morning of Tuesday, January 28, there were at least 10 BRTA buses waiting outside Kamalapur Station. Staff members managing the buses allowed passengers to get on after they showed their train tickets.
The buses were heading to several key destinations, including Chattogram, Khulna, and Rangpur, from Dhaka.
One traveler, who had a ticket for Chattogram, shared that he came to the station after buying his ticket in advance.
However, when he arrived at the station, he found out that no trains were running. He was then told that buses had been arranged for passengers like him to continue their journey.
Rail Advisor Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan visited Kamalapur Station in the morning, during the ongoing strike by railway workers.
He said that the railway authorities are ready to sit down with the train drivers and other staff to discuss their demands and find a peaceful solution.
He also mentioned that buses had been arranged for passengers holding train tickets to help them reach their destinations.
When asked about the strike, he explained that the workers` demands had already been met, but they were still continuing their protest.
