The court has granted police a day remand for interrogating chief executive officer (CEO) of Evaly Md Russell.
The court has turned down the police's remand petition against Shamima Nasrin, the chairman of the company, and sent her to the prison instead.
An Evaly customer Arif Baker filed a case against Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin in charge of fraudulence and embezzlement of the customers’ money.
The case statement says Arif Baker and his friends paid Tk 3,10,598 via online banking for the price of Evaly products at different times from 29 May to 18 June 2021.
Earlier on the day, investigation officer of Dhanmondi police station sought the remand plea on Tuesday (September 21) following as another case of embezzlement was filed.
Officer in Charge (OC) Ikram Ali Mia of Dhanmondi police station confirmed the matter to TheReport.live.
“A case was filed with our police station over deceiving clients and misappropriating money. We sought 7-day remand for the sake of a fair investigation,” OC Ikram Ali Mia said.
On September 16, the duo was arrested from their Mohammedpur residence following the deception case was filed.
