Saad followers has confirmed that they will be holding their Ijtema at the Tongi ground from February 14 to 16.

Mohammad Sayem, the media coordinator of the group, shared this announcement on Friday, January 24, despite facing tensions with the government.

“We have been treated unfairly by the government this time,” Sayem said, expressing frustration.

“We’ve left the matter in the hands of Allah for judgment, InshaAllah, Allah will support the oppressed.”

He highlighted that the government had broken promises to them even before the violent incidents took place in Tongi.

Sayem further accused the government of trying to pin blame on them for matters that were still under court review following the Tongi incident.

He also raised concerns that the police had refused to register a case for their deceased companion.

He went on to explain that while the government allowed Hefazat’s Ijtema in two phases and made decisions after only meeting with them, they were pressured to hold their own Ijtema on the 14th of February.

"After much discussion, our elders decided, InshaAllah, we will hold the Ijtema in Tongi on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of February."

Sayem also revealed that the Ministry of Home Affairs had requested them to provide a written statement stating they would not hold Ijtema in Tongi after this year.

However, they were informed that the ministry had no right to ask for such a statement.

When they questioned the reasoning behind this request, the ministry told them the decision was theirs to make.

In response, the Saad followers asked for a written confirmation from the government about that decision, promising to consider their next steps based on the official response.
