The government has declared a nationwide motorcycle ban that will last for three days in an effort to keep the peace during the January 7 elections.
In this regard, a circular was released by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The circular, which was signed by Md. Mostafizur Rahman, senior secretary of the home ministry`s public security division, declared that motorcycles would not be permitted on the roads between January 5 and January 8 at midnight.
However, national highways are exempt from the prohibition.
Motorcycle and some other vehicle restrictions have been strictly enforced in the interest of preserving law and order during the polls.
The circular further announced that from January 6 to January 7, all motorized boats (apart from those operating on designated routes) and taxicabs, microbuses, pickups, trucks, launches, and launches will not be allowed to operate in the voting areas.
This directive does not, however, apply to election agents, candidates, administration, law enforcement, or authorized observers.
National highways will likewise not be covered by this.
