A Turkish Airlines flight (TK-713) bound for Turkey was forced to make an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday morning, shortly after takeoff.

The aircraft, carrying 290 passengers, took off at 7:00 am but had to return minutes later due to a bird strike on its second engine, according to a statement from Team TK Dhaka.

Airport officials reported that the pilot noticed a fire in one of the engines and decided to make an emergency landing. To minimize risks, the aircraft circled in the sky to burn off fuel before landing.

The plane successfully landed at 8:15 am without any casualties.

“We are pleased to confirm that all passengers, crew, and the aircraft are safe. As the aircraft requires repairs, the process will take some time,” the airline said in a statement.

This incident comes just days after a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Dhaka airport on May 16, following the detachment of a wheel shortly after takeoff from Cox’s Bazar
