The International Crimes Tribunal ICT) has asked two former Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) officers before the tribunal on December 2 next in a case filed over enforced disappearance during the Awami League (AL) regime.

A judicial panel led by Chairman of the ICT Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order today upon a prosecution appeal of issuance production warrants against them.

Former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rangamati Training Center and former RAB-2 officer Mohiuddin Farooqui and Additional Superintendent of Police of Barisal Range Alep Uddin were asked to appear before the tribunal.

Prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmood informed BSS about the order, saying, "We applied for their production warrant to the tribunal and it ordered them to appear on December 2 next."

The interim government has earlier decided to try the charges of genocide and crimes against humanity in the ICT in July-August during the anti-discrimination student movement.

As part of the move, new prosecution teams and investigation agencies have been formed. The ICT law has also been amended for the trial. The repair work of the tribunal building has also been completed.

After the mass uprising, more than 125 various complaints including disappearances, murders and genocide have been submitted to the tribunal against 14-party leaders including Sheikh Hasina and former top officials of the law and order enforcement forces.

The ICT was reconstituted on October 14 last.
