Will resign if PM thinks so: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that he would step down if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thinks that to be necessary. 

"If such a situation arises and the Prime Minister thinks so. We always work for the country, we will do that (resign),” he said respinding to reporters at a press conference at the capital‍‍`s secretariat on Saturday night.

The minister also urged the quota reform activists to go back home.

In response to another question, the minister said, "We have accepted all the demands of the protesting students. Now it is time for the students to end their agitation and go to their respective fields. Still, if they have something to say, the prime minister‍‍`s door is open."

Curfew relaxed

From Sunday, the curfew in Dhaka and three other adjacent districts will be relaxed, extending the permissible movement hours to 15 hours daily—from 6am to 9pm, according to the minister.

The new schedule applies to Dhaka, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, and Gazipur.

For other districts, the timings will be announced by the respective deputy commissioners, he said.

The current curfew schedule will continue until further notice.
