BNP will hold rallies and bring out processions across the country on January 16 to meet 10-point demand, including the resignation of the Awami League-led government and elections under a non-partisan neutral caretaker government.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the fresh program in front of Nayapaltan on Wednesday while addressing the mass sit-in program – the second initiative of their simultaneous movement – like the mass rally on December 10, last year.
Fakhrul said that the demonstration would be held in all cities, districts, upazilas and municipalities to press home 10-point charter of demands as well as reduction of power tariff.
“The goal of the government is establishing a one-party rule in the country by taking away all the rights of the people unjustly and illegally. The good news is that civil society and notable Bangladeshis have begun to speak up,” he said.
BNP’s program was on 10 December. There was a conspiracy of the government, even after arresting BNP leaders and activists, the general people made the BNP program successful, Fakhrul added.
The BNP had a program on December 10. Even when BNP officials and activists were detained by the government, according to Fakhrul, the general people continued to support the BNP program, making it successful.
Mirza Fakhrul, the Secretary General of the biggest opposition party in this country, urged the people of this county to wake up and realize the dream of 1971 independence to build a new Bangladesh.
